In The Meantime

Ever since we were 18 and used to head up every summer to Montréal to drink beers under 21 and look at boobs, we always noticed how strong and amazing of a punk scene there is in that city. I mean we heard NoFX, Rancid and Goldfinger in bars, and girls knew what it was.

Well since I have moved there, our suspicions have been confirmed: Punk Rock is alive and well in MTL, and a huge part of it is thanks to Hugo Mudie, past singer of Fat Wreck Chords’ Montréal band, The Sainte Catherines. The band is finished, but Hugo continues to fuel MTL punk through playing, booking and especially by creating Pouzza Fest, a very quickly growing yearly punk festival each May in Montréal.

Through some friends I’ve met over the past few years, we’ve been invited to play Pouzza’s weekly Saturday series, and it feels awesome to be a part of it. It’s our first time outside of the U.S. and we’d love to bring along any SPC/G-Town faithfuls, who want to come up that weekend and show these Québecois how we do it south of the border. So get in touch and you can come up in one of the cars.

Yea I know that’s not Nick in the picture, but the rest of it is so great. Anyways, so one way or another people are apparently sort of hearing about us here and there, and asking us to play shows, which is a pretty badass break from having to beg other people to let us play their shows. So thank you to anyone who is in anyway responsible for this bizarre phenomenon. As a result, we’ve got some new shows!

Saturday night December 22nd were playing the second annual “Deck the Hulls” holiday show, w/The Hulls, Pickpocket, and Defcon Five at Rudy’s @ 1227 Chapel St. New Haven, CT.

Then closer to home on Friday night January 18th, we’re playing The Boston Bloghead January Punk Showcase at Radio Lounge 379-381 Somerville Ave. Somerville, MA. This year we give thanks for this awesome lineup. Seriously, in this world of everyone and their mother having a crappy band and telling everyone how great their show is going to be and begging you to come, it’s amazing we have four bands that kick this much ass. So this time, there will be no attempted convincing of how fun the show would be. Stay home if you want. We’ll be there, and we’re gonna love this fucking show. Screw you guys. $8 18+

Rhode Island has been awesome to us and it’s gonna be great to get back!!! No B.S. this night. Just an awesome solid lineup of straight punk all the way through – Headlined by one of the most polished, kick – ass punk bands underground in New England right now, The Down and Outs (click link to listen to them on facebook)

This show is going to be at the very cool News Cafe, which is an 18 + venue and 21+ to drink. The cover is $5 for a great show, but DRAFT BEERS ARE $2 AND MIXED DRINKS ARE $4!!!! So I’m sure we’re all in agreement the $5 is well worth it!

Show is from 8:00PM – 12:30 AM and will also have The Bitchin Aardvarks and others.
